Able to Leap Tall Buildings in a Single Bound
What does Superman symbolize to you—hope, strength, courage, imagination, or something else?
There are certain symbols that rise above entertainment and become part of the human imagination. Superman is one of them.
This week’s Photo of the Week was captured in Cleveland, Ohio, the city where Superman was created. Standing beneath the statue with the camera angled upward, I wanted the image to feel larger than life. The pose, the sky, and the tall building in the background all work together to remind us of the classic phrase: “Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.”
For me, this photograph is about more than a superhero. It is about vision, hope, and the power of imagination. Two young creators from Cleveland helped give the world a character who came to represent strength, courage, protection, and possibility. That matters.
The low-angle perspective makes the statue feel heroic, but the city around it keeps the image grounded. Cleveland is not just a backdrop here—it is part of the story. The architecture, the blue sky, and the upward movement of the statue all suggest motion, ambition, and belief in something greater.
As a photographer, I am always looking for moments where place, history, and emotion meet. This image is one of those moments. It speaks to childhood memories, American pop culture, and the idea that even ordinary places can give birth to extraordinary dreams.
