Lisbon from Above: A City of Hills, History, and Endless Discovery
Standing at the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, Lisbon unfolds like a living postcard. Terracotta rooftops cascade across the hillsides, leading the eye toward the ancient walls of São Jorge Castle, which has watched over the city for centuries.
What drew me to this scene was the connection between past and present. The detailed ceramic map in the foreground serves as a guide to the city below, while the skyline tells a story of resilience, culture, and daily life. Every rooftop, street, and tower holds a chapter of Lisbon’s rich history.
As a travel and street photographer, I am constantly searching for places that reveal both their beauty and their soul. Lisbon does exactly that. From its breathtaking viewpoints to its winding streets filled with music, conversation, and light, it invites you to slow down and look deeper.
This photograph is a reminder that sometimes the best way to understand a city is to pause, take in the view, and appreciate the layers of history spread out before you.
