Where the Light Leads
Sometimes the photograph is simply about recognizing where the light wants you to look.
I was drawn to the deep shadows surrounding this narrow passage of light. Converting the image to black and white stripped away the distractions of color and allowed the geometry, contrast, and direction of the light to become the subject.
The illuminated walkway seems to invite the viewer forward—from darkness toward an unknown space beyond. For me, this is the kind of photograph that comes from slowing down, observing, and allowing ordinary architecture to become something more abstract and mysterious.
